Rooaun House, Cappataggle

One Off House

Located on a secluded rural site the natural features of the site were taken into consideration when locating the house. An area surround by beautiful mature trees and with elevated views of uninterrupted country side to the south was eventually chosen.

When I first meet with the home owners they already had developed some clear ideas around how the house should be laid out.

We then developed their ideas into a coherent plan. A more traditional symmetrically design style followed with pitched roofs and vertically divided fenestration.

Balconies and roof overhangs were used on the south to create shading from any possible excessive solar gain and also provide some protected external courtyard style spaces.

The open plan is cleverly subdivided by the use of level changes and internal features such as the stove and island to create a comfortable and cosy living space with an abundance of natural light.
