architectural design & conservation

about plan A

Plan A is a multi-disciplinary practice specialising in residential design, low energy housing and architectural conservation, established in 2010 by husband and wife team Michael and Síle.

We are a design led practice and strive to create unique design solutions tailored to each individual client’s requirements.

At Plan A we focus on our client’s needs and work hard to provide a high standard of design with a personal service.  Clients are encouraged to be involved during the design process and are ensured of personal attention and guidance in achieving the best possible home or finished project that their budget will allow.

It is our aim to use our experience to make each project run smoothly and be a rewarding experience for everyone involved.  We have long term experience of delivering new build and renovation projects from inception to completion and have established good working relationship with planning authorities, consultants & building contractors.

If we are going to disturb a natural landscape, we have a responsibility, a duty to ensure that what we build is SUSTAINABLE and creates an enriching ENVIRONMENT for the occupants

Síle Rice

Síle is a qualified Interior Architect and enjoys using her training and experience to help clients realise their perfect home.

During the design process she listens to the clients wish list and by examining the way they live helps them to create a detailed brief, allowing her to create spaces that meet individual clients needs in terms of functionality and everyday living while at the same time creating spaces that are visually and aesthetically beautiful. This personalised approach will ensure that the final design is unique to the individual client.  Alongside this each bespoke design is site specific taking into consideration your site or existing homes orientation, views, features or contours as well as neighbouring buildings.   Síle believes that homes must be flexible in order to adjust as your family grows and your needs change.  It is her aim to create a space that you look forward to coming home to and that you enjoy spending time in.

Síle specialises in Architectural Conservation having studied Applied Building Repair and Conservation at Trinity College Dublin and has worked on a wide variety of conservation projects including works to National Monuments, Protected Structures, and buildings within Architectural Conservation Areas. Such projects included private period homes, Churches, Castles, ruins, community buildings and commercial retail units.
