Conservation

A Protected structure & National Monument

The property owners engaged Plan A Design to develop a schedule of conservation, repair and upgrading work to be carried out over a number of years to allow the castle to be opened to the public.

We then successfully secured grant funding from Galway County Council and the Heritage Council to carry out some of these works.  In 2010 repairs works to the leaking roof were funded by Galway County Council and a Conservation Management Plan was funded by The Heritage Council.  In 2012 a number decayed timber windows were replaced with metal windows again funded by the Heritage Council.
